News: New Server

Our previous hosting server was a very nice piece of kit, but after two years of usage and running on older version of Linux, we thought that it was time to upgrade.

With the transit and server space still provided by our preferred supplier we were able to purchase a second server with a goal to decommission the old one after a month of running the two in parallel allowing us to do some much needed real world testing.

We are pleased to announce that today at 8.30pm, the IP addresses for the two servers were swapped over, meaning that all new traffic now points to the newer and improved server.

There was a minor 20 minutes of downtime during the swap, but we are very happy to report that after the swap all customer data, email, server setup and configuration has remained in tact and we'd be very surprised if any customers actually noticed a difference.

As we pride ourselves on being an open and honest company we will admit that there was a minor problem with the email server, which caused a short 1-2 hour delay in new email coming through, but absolutely no email was lost and the problem was rectified very swiftly.

We trust that the new server will perform as admirably as the old one (it should being a very similar specification) and based on how few difficulties were involved in the swap we will look at upgrading this new server in another 2-3 years, making sure that the services Bullet Proof Monkey provides to its customers are always on top of our game.
